Dedication
I dedicate this book to all those who helped my faith to grow. To my many pastors and teachers I have had over the years. Special thanks to the late Pastor Cindy Ordway who inspired and challenged me to think different thoughts.
Preface
My Thoughts are neither right nor wrong, good nor bad, true nor false, possible nor impossible. My Thoughts are not even my beliefs. They are simply My Thoughts.
So why have I taken the time to write something that can be read in a couple of hours? The concept behind the writing is not to have you believe my thoughts but to cause you to think of your thoughts about that topic.
Read one thought and then allow your mind the freedom to explore it in detail. If you do, your thoughts will have the opportunity to grow and expand and your mind to become richer. Your thoughts may take you to a place you have never been before. What a wonderful trip that will be.
My Thoughts
8-9-93
How difficult it is to understand my thoughts! I cherish them and allow them to grow but finding someone I can share them with is very difficult. In my life, I have only found a few people whose thoughts were as deep as mine are. Sharing with those people was a true joy. I have found that if I don’t share my thoughts, the same thoughts stay with me and I don’t grow, so now I am sharing them in writing. I have found that writing my thoughts down in their complete form frees my mind to go on to different thoughts and expand.
My file of thoughts so far is small, but it is slowly growing. Someday this file might help someone, and just maybe someone will think my thoughts are really great. But for now, I think and write so I can think anew with even deeper thoughts. I don’t know why I have the thoughts I do or what good will come from them, but I believe that someday I will know, and then I will understand this blessing of thinking deep thoughts that I possess.
My Three Lives
8-9-84
The first life I lived was the easiest to live, for in that life I was in my mother’s womb. All my needs were supplied to me, and I had no wants or worries. My mother carried me around and kept me warm even when the weather outside was very cold. She fed me only what I needed and only what was good for me. It was truly an easy life, but it was without joy or happiness—without emotion or feelings on my part. It was just a life of physical growth. Then, after nine months, that life ended, and I was born again into my second life.
Now I am living my second life, and it is completely different from my first life. There is no one to carry me wherever I go, so I must decide where I should go. No one keeps me warm, so I must find a way to warm myself. No one feeds me, so I must decide what to eat and how much to eat. It is truly a more difficult life, with decisions to make about everything. There is also joy and happiness, sorrow and disappointment in this life. There is emotion. Life is like a roller coaster, with its ups and downs, its thrills and disappointments. When I share the ride with those I love, the joys are even bigger and the disappointments are easier to handle.
This second life can be very difficult unless you accept Christ into your life. When you accept Christ, it’s like entering into His womb. He will help you decide where to go, He will provide you with warmth of body and soul, and He will feed your body and soul. Christ will not deny you anything you need. You will have all the advantages of the first life along with all the emotions of the second life. You will have the better of two lives. In a life with Christ, there is much joy and happiness, and the sorrows are easier to bear. Without Christ, life will be over in a few years, but with Christ, there is the knowledge that after the second death, the third and best life begins, for each life is lived to prepare for the next life. Living the second life with Christ prepares me for my third life with Him.
While I was in my first life, no one could tell me about the second life and what it would be like, but in my second life, if it is with Christ, I can learn what awaits me in my third life. It is a life of joy and happiness, of peace and contentment, and full of love. A Christian’s second life is a life of joy and happiness because he has so much to look forward to in his third life. The promises God made to us make the second life easier to live and give us the desire to live according to His Word so we can live again in the third life, which will have no end. If everyone knew for sure what the third life was like and didn’t have to believe with faith alone, how beautiful the second life would be for everyone because everyone would want to be a Christian!
I wait and prepare for my third life as I did for my second, except now I have a choice as to where to spend my third life.
My Religion
11-26-84
My religion is neither Lutheran, nor Methodist, nor Catholic, nor Baptist, nor Presbyterian; my religion is me. I am a Christian. My beliefs do not follow any group exactly but are influenced by the groups that have taught me the Word of God and continue to teach me. My religion is ever changing as I learn and study more. As I listen to people argue about their religion, I see that they do not have their own religion but have taken someone else’s religion and said, “That sounds nice—I’ll follow that one.” Then, when the religion they’ve chosen to follow changes because of growth, they cannot change.
These people do not realize that the church in which you worship is not your religion but a place where you can grow and study the Word of God. Your church will most likely not agree with everything you believe in but should agree with your general beliefs. The church you attend will greatly influence all your beliefs, but you must remember that your religion is yours, and to grow and become stronger, it must be ever changing. Churches come and go—you may move away or your pastor may change—but your religion is forever
