M2M Zone Anchors CeBIT's New "Connected" Hall
PR Newswire HANOVER, Germany, Nov. 13, 2012
HANOVER, Germany,Nov. 13, 2012/PRNewswire/ -- For the first time, the world's largest ICT show will have a specific hall within its massive fairgrounds dedicated to the use of connected devices. Themes will include smart cities, connected homes, intelligent transportation, and, of course, machine-to-machine communications (M2M). One cornerstone of CeBIT's new hall will be the M2M Zone, organizer of M2M events on three continents, which will offer booth space and sponsorships for suppliers interested in standing out as part of the M2M ecosystem.
The M2M Zone @ CeBIT 2013 will be situated in Hall 11 among CeBIT's own showcases for "smart infrastructure" and "smart home," and adjacent to the stand of R. Bosch GmbH, the massive OEM, which will display a wide array of technology for connected devices. ITS Germany, the automotive telematics group, will be a mainstay of the conference that is again expected to draw large num bers of attendees from vertical markets critical to the fledgling M2M industry, including transportation, healthcare, energy, public infrastructure, and logistics.
CeBIT draws more than 300,000 visitors to Hanover every March, but this is the first time that attendees will find these diverse industry themes all in one place. Says CeBIT VP Bernd Heinold, "Technology convergence m eans that it's no longer easy to separate these diverse areas of application – people are connected wherever they are, and data can be used to improve the quality of life, whether it's applied by cities, companies, or consumers themselves."
Specifically, the M2M Zone @ CeBIT will now be tied to areas of the show for connected cars and connected homes by an immediately adjacent conference center and lounge area, available only to exhibitors and sponsors. As always, a fully-realized conference program will offer content on M2M and key vertical markets, and give M2M solutions providers an ideal opportunity to present themselves in the larger landscape of smart infrastructure.
"I don't see any reason why M2M solutions providers wouldn't want to participate in the new M2M Zone @ CeBIT pavilion," says Keith Kreisher, director of the M2M Zone, "as far as we're concerned, this is a rare opportunity to meet customers – that is, adopters of M2M technology." M2M Zone participants worldwide include AT&T, C interion, Cisco, Deutsche Telekom, Digi, Huawei, Intel, Kore Telematics, Orange, Qualcomm, SAP, Telefonica O2, Telit, Verizon, and Vodafone.
