Israel - Palestine: A Continuous Conflict A Point of View
“Si vis pacem, para bellum”
This Latin sentence sadly describes the history of the Jewish State, a state that since its first day has been seeking for peace and simultaneously had to fight for its survival. On May 1 t 4 h , 2001 the State of Israel will celebrate rd i tsy e5a3r of independence. This Independence Day should have symbolized the end of the Arab Israeli conflict, which has been going on for the last 110 years. Instead, as it seems now, another year will pass without the fulfillment of Israeli strongest ambition to put an end to the brutal struggle, which claimed the lives of tens of thousands of soldiers and citizens from both sides. In its almost 53 years there were six wars between Israel and its neighbours, now, Israel is facing its most difficult and longest war since the Independence War. This war is not only being fought between Arabs and Israelis but also between Israelis among themselvs. This war is about the future existentence and nature of the state of Israel. Paradoxically this war is called the war for peace.
