Attila had folded the scattered Germanic and Slavic tribes into his forces as he moved
across the steppes of Central Asia, forming these warring remnants into a mosaic of
tenuous alliances that would become the spearhead of his invasion into Europe. This first
th major movement of Central Asian power in the 5 century into the heart of present day
Europe met with defeat at Chalons, France. Yet, its importance lies not in its military
success or failure but in the fact that it could be accomplished at all. The infusion and
th diffusion that begins with Attila and closes with Tamberlain in the mid 14 century
creates the cross culturalization of Central Asian life into Europe.
If we imagine Eurasia as a continent of shimmering tiles, each geographical and cultural
difference represented by the subtlest of shadings, the minutest of shards, each particle
reflective of the density and richness of the various human populations, we will then
begin to grasp the enormity of the cultural palate. The focus of this paper will be on one
