In this situation your body will experience adrenaline pulsing through your veins. You will experience shortness of breath and your hands may become unstable. It is important to put your alarm aside and pay close attention to what is going on with the person challenging you. If you can do that, then that will give you a better chance of doing the right thing.  You need to learn kicking techniques when you study martial arts. Many people do this very well after having this training. It is important that you leave your kicks at home and stick to real fighting. Kicking might get you hurt instead of helping you. You might try a roundhouse kick, but this is usually reserved for people who practice and know what they are doing. You may still get hurt. The chances are very high that this could happen. If you are in a street fight, this is not a great thing to do. Your best probability of winning with a kick is to go for the shin or knee when kicking. The probability of success in doing this is something that you will have to judge on your own.  You can find out about self-defense on the net, but nothing beats instruction from a live training event. You simply need to look around for companies that will do this type of training, find the location, and go there to be trained.
