GUM LIFT / GUM REJUVENATION
(PINHOLE SURGICAL TECHNIQUE)
If you suffer from gum recession and sensitivity around the gums/teeth, you may be qualified to undergo this non-invasive gum
lift/rejuvenation procedure to restore your lost gum tissue and recession back to its normal, healthy condition.
Symptoms of receding gums include:
Excessively long teeth
Exposed roots
Sensitive teeth
Tooth wear near the gum line
Pain below the gum line
Tooth pain when exposed to cold
If you think you may have receding gums, we strongly urge you to see a dentist before they lead to more serious problems such
as tooth decay, extreme tooth sensitivity and loss of tooth support.
The gum lift/rejuvenation procedure involves approximately four small, pin-hole sized incisions made on each arch. The
incisions allow us access to lift and reposition the gum tissue back to its "natural" position. After the gums are repositioned,
synthetic collagen is inserted into the sites to allow for tissue stabilization. The pinhole incisions typically disappear or heal the
next day and majority of patients experience no or minimal discomfort after surgery. Often only one or two doses of an
antiinflammatory medication is required after the surgery. If you would like to see if you qualify for this procedure, please contact
our office for a consultation.
What are the benefits of the Pinhole Surgical Technique?
Less discomfort for the patient after treatment
Faster patient recovery than traditional grafting
No need for sutures
No need for scalpels or invasive surgical instruments
No need to take donor tissue from patient's palate
Excellent, natural-looking, long-lasting results

A condition marked by diminished tissue around the teeth, receded gums occurs in a gradual progression that we sometimes
don't notice until someone else points it out. Receding gums surgery can play tricks on a smile, making teeth look slanted,
unusually large or misshapen.
But more than giving off an unsightly appearance, gum recession poses a serious dental health risk. It is usually caused by over
brushing or periodontal disease, and if left untreated, can lead to tooth deterioration and other dental diseases.
Symptoms of receding gums include:
Excessively Long Teeth
Exposed Roots
Gum Inflammation
Halitosis (Bad Breath)
Pain Below the Gum Line
Sensitive Teeth
If you think you may have receding gums, we strongly urge you to see a dentist before they lead to more serious problems such
as tooth decay and gingivitis.
Gum grafting is a relatively simple procedure. It involves surgically attaching or raising tissue to a healthy level. Gum grafting
can be conducted under local or general anesthesia, depending on whether the patient prefers to be awake or unconscious
during the procedure. In most cases, total or near-total coverage of the receded area is achievable, and healing time is minimal.
