Dorvault und die « Pharmacie Centrale de France ».
Der beruflich erfolgreiche Apotheker François Dorvault (1815-1879) strebte danach seinen Beruf empor zu reissen und erliess an seine Kollegen, am 15. März 1852, einen Aufruf in welchem er seine Sorgen um die Pharmazie, die Apotheker, die öffentliche Gesundheit darlegte. Um die Interesse der Einen, wie die Gesundheit Aller zu beschützen, schlug er die Bildung einer Apothekervereinigung, nach genossenschaftlicher Art vor, mit einem Musterbetrieb, zugleich Grosshandlung und Laboratorium, welcher die Herstellung von Arzneimittel erlauben sollte, unter dem Motto : « Sparsamkeit, Identität, Vollkom menheit ». Dies geschah mit der « Pharmacie Centrale des Pharmaciens », am 15. September 1852 gegründet, drei Jahre später zur « Pharmacie Centrale de France » umgewandelt, unter deren Nahme die Gesellschaft immer noch besteht. Dorvault ergänzte diesen Betrieb mit wissenschaftlichen Laboratorien, mit preisbelohnten Jährlichen Wettbewerben, mit sozialen Einrichtungen und mit der Herausgabe der Zeitschrift L'Union pharmaceutique. Die « Pharmacie Centrale » kannte ruhmvolle Stunden auf kommerziellem Gebiet auf Grund des guten Rufes ihrer Erzeugnisse. Die zwei Weltkriege brachten ihr finanzielle Schwierigkeiten welche sie überstand. Sie musste und wusste sich anzupassen, aber behält die Treue zur fortstrebenden Tradition ihres Gründers.
Dorvault and the « Pharmacie Centrale de France ».
The pharmacist François Dorvault (1815-1879) in wanting to go beyond his personal success and involve the entire profession, addressed a manifesto to his colleagues on March 15, 1852, expressing his concerns for pharmacy, pharmacists, and public health. In order to preserve the interests of some while protecting the health of all, he proposed an association of pharmacists, a sort of cooperative, which would endow a model establishment - at once drug store and laboratory - and which would permit the manufacture of medications based on these three criteria : « economy, identity, perfection ». Thus was established the « Pharmacie Centrale des Pharmaciens » on September 15, 1852 ; three years later it became known as the « Pharmacie Centrale de France », the name under which the company still exists. Dorvault was able to effect his goal with the help of scientific laboratories and social organizations, by instituting annual prize-winning competitions, and by the publication of the review L'Union Pharmaceutique. The « Pharmacie Centrale » was an enormous commercial success due to the renown of its products. During both World Wars it experienced financial difficulties which it was able to surmount. It understood the necessity of, and was able to, change with the times, but it remains loyal to the innovative tradition of its founder.
