Introduction ThistrainingmoduleonintegratedbioanalyticsispartoftheEuropeanModular EducationSafeSciMETprogramme.Theprogrammeaimstoencompassthesafety, ethical,regulatoryandsocietalaspectsinallphasesofdrugdevelopment,with emphasisonintegrative,translationaland3Rs[replacement,reductionand refinement]aspectsofdrugsafetyassessment.Awell‐designedbioanalyticalstrategyis animportantpillarforthedevelopmentofsafedrugs.Thiscourseaimsatthe translationalaspectsoftransformingbasicbioanalyticalapproachestoreal‐lifeclinical/ industrialapplications. WhyjointhecourseinBiomolecularanalysis:From methoddevelopmenttoclinic? Thiscoursedealswithbiomolecularanalysis,andaimsatprovidinginsightand knowledgeonmostaspectsofmethoddevelopment,validation,andapplication.A uniquefeatureofthiscourseisinthefactthatthebioanalysisofbothsmall‐molecule drugsandbiopharmaceuticalsisdiscussed.Expertsfromthefieldwithhands‐on experiencewillbetheretoguideyouthroughthedifferentstepsandstrategieso methoddevelopment,optimization,validationandapplication.Methoddevelopmentis discussedfrombothanalytepropertyandapplicationperspective. Learningoutcomes Thecoursewillenableattendees: • Toevaluatestudiesinthebioanalyticalfield • Tocommunicatewithexpertsinthefield.

Morespecifically,participantswillbeableto: ¾Understandhowthephysico‐chemicalpropertiesoftheanalytes shouldbeusedinthemethoddevelopmentofbioanalytical strategiesforsmallmoleculedrugs. ¾Haveabasicunderstandingofwidelyappliedtoolsforsample pretreatment,separation,anddetectioninsmall‐molecule bioanalysis. ¾Definethebasicneedsforthedevelopmentofintegrated bioanalyticalmethodsforbiopharmaceuticals,involvingboth recombinantproteinproductsand(monoclonal)antibodies. ¾Haveabasicunderstandingofvalidationanddata‐handlingissues. ¾Criticallyassessanumberofrecentdevelopmentsinthefieldof biomolecularanalysis.
