How do I use these tables? The following tables list all the CPS comment codes. The SAR table and the ISIR table are comprisedof four columns. In the first column, the comment codes are listed numerically. In the second column, you will find the comment text that is printed on SARs or on printed ISIRs. In the third column, weindicate if a C code is set. The C code is typically generated when data match results require FAAresolution. However, the C code is also generated if an applicant's response to drug question 35 requiresresolution or FAA action. If there is also a reject code associated with a comment code, the reject codewill be listed in column four. As a system change for 2003-2004, comment codes will no longer be setfor comments that do not have text to be printed on the SAR or ISIR.Note:The SAR Acknowledgement table only contains the comment code number and the commentcode definition. How are comment codes set?Comment codes are set by the CPS on the student's transaction to provide information to the student andto you in the Financial Aid Office. How do the ISIR Comment Codes work? The 2003-2004 ISIR Comment Text is used for ISIRs printed from EDExpress, another softwaredeveloper, or your internal ISIR print program. The electronic ISIR file, sent to the school, contains thecomment code numbers that should print on the ISIR. Each ISIR comment code is 3 digits and can befound in positions 1589-1648 in the ISIR file. Comment Codes are also printed on SARAcknowledgements and some are provided on regular SARs. Where can I find more information about ISIRs?The ISIR Guide, containing 2003-2004 ISIR information, is scheduled to be published by the U.S.Department of Education at a later date. The ISIR Guide can be found on the following Web site:ifap.ed.gov. Note:This document will be updated and reposted to the U.S. Department of Educations FederalStudent Aid Download (FSAdownload) Web site located atFSAdownload.ed.gov as well asifap.ed.gov, as needed.
