Bulletin de la Société préhistorique française - Année 1990 - Volume 87 - Numéro 2 - Pages 57-64ABSTRACT The Mont Houy site has to be examined in the general context of the denudation sites of the Escaut basin : Haussy, Solesmes, Busigny all have a series of alluvial pockets preserved in the eocene substratum and which have been disturbed by deep-seated modifications. The archaeological layers of Solesmes and Busigny, attributed respectively to the Typical Mous- terian and Ferrassie-type Mousterian cultures, have been affected by the formation of a polygon system. Whatever the situation regarding the attribution of the lower level (Mousterian ou Acheulean), the interest of the Mont Houy site lies mainly in the discovery of a flake-based industry, with backed blades, in an erosion layer probably situated at the base of the Upper Full Glacial level : a piece of evidence to be filed in the still meagre records regarding the « Late Mousterian ». 8 pages Source : Persée ; Ministère de la jeunesse, de l’éducation nationale et de la recherche, Direction de l’enseignement supérieur, Sous-direction des bibliothèques et de la documentation.
