The end of the myth of unity Hélène Carrère D'encausse Since 1945 when the Socialist revolution spread to central and western Europe, conflicts have continually opposed the USSR « land of socialism » to the other states sharing the saine ideology. These contradictions between nations having similar socio-political Systems go against the internationalist conception of marxistn and lead to the questioning of the validity of this ideal. If each conflict has, until now, enabled the USSR to maintain — at least in appearance — both the cohésion of the socialist block and the authority of the USSR within this block, each crisis has in fact transformed the block itself and has led to the questioning of the link between the interests of the USSR and the interests of socialism, thus weakening the supreme authority of the USSR.
La fin du mythe de l'unité Hélène Carrère D'Encausse Depuis qu'en 1945 la révolution socialiste s'est étendue à l'Europe centrale et occidentale, des conflits ont continuellement opposé l'U. R. S. S., « terre du socialisme », aux Etats qui partagent la même idéologie. Ces antagonismes entre des nations qui ont le même système socio-politique vont à rencontre de la conception internationale du marxisme et conduisent à s'interroger sur la validité de cet idéal. Si aucun conflit n'a jusqu'à maintenant empêché l'U.R.S.S, de maintenir, au moins en apparence, à la fois la cohésion du bloc socia­liste et l'autorité de l'U.R.S.S, à l'intérieur de ce bloc, chaque crise a en fait transformé le bloc lui-même et conduit à mettre en question le lien entre les intérêts de l'U.R.S.S, et les intérêts du socialisme ; d'où un affaiblissement de l'autorité suprême de l'U.R.S.S.
