ABSTRACT
This foreword summarizes the trends of our special issue, devoted to the present-time management of the French marine and coastal problems. The main items discussed in the papers are pointed out, and it is shown that the most important questions in this respect are actually considered in France, although much remains often to be done before adequate solutions are found.
