Top 5 Drones for Video Having the ability to shoot great photographs is one thing, but for many drone enthusiasts, having their quadcopter shoot great videos is even more important. Many people use drones in their profession to add additional services to their portfolio. The real estate agent may wish to use a drone to film around farms or estates for sale. A photographer may wish to provide drone videos as an additional wedding event service. Here are the top 5 drones for video, should you be searching for something with professional-quality video. DJI Inspire 1 TheDJI Inspire1 will film some great video footage. This drone looks a bit different than the others with its“H”shape, in a white color. The arms are made from strong carbon fiber to resists breaks and provide durability in the event of crashing. There is a small radio controller unit which is fairly simply to use. The onboard camera will allow you to film up to 4K video and 12 MP snapshots. What’sso neat about the camera on this drone is thatyou’llbe able to take 360 degree shots and then fit them together for one long panoramic shot, or to make a flash web page. This drone has special sensors that enable it to be safely flown indoors. But of course with its good video camera, you’llwant to take it out into the country side onceyou’vemastered its controls. You can fly your drone out to about 1.2 miles, which is perfect for filming video over lakes, and in the mountains. The camera is perched on a three axis gimbal so that it will film some fairly stable video footage. DJI Phantom 2 DJI also makes two other great quadcopters that can be used with video cameras, theDJI Phantom 2and 3. The two came first, but can still be found for sale on many websites. The Phantom 2 has a white plastic case with red racer stripes. The camera on this quad floats below its body, with two landing legs on either side protecting the camera during landings. The camera is held to the drone with the Zenmuse three axis gimbal. This provides for better camera stability and keeps the video quality from becoming blurred or
shaky. The major difference between the 2 and 3 though is thatyou’llneed to purchase your own camera and install it on the 2. This drone is still worth mentioning though, as many drone pilots wish to choose their own video camera: GoPro Hero 3, Hero 3+, and Hero 4, so you can choose the best that suits your purpose. The Phantom 2 has an anti-static shell which will protect the camera from static charges that can cause erratic video. The return to home function on it will also allow you to quickly bring it back to base should filming conditions become dangerous. This is particularly important, asyou’vegone to the expense of purchasing a camera too. DJI Phantom 3 ThePhantom 3actually comes with an HD camera that hangs from the underside. This was the 2015 release for DJI. This drone also has a white finish, but it has gold metallic markings, showcasing that this quad is definitely from their premium line, and you can expect to pay a premium price. But at least it does have a camera. This camera will film UHD video and will be stable from its three axis gimbal system. With the use of Lightbridge technology you can watch live streaming video from your smart phone or tablet. Like the Phantom 2, the 3 has cool trick maneuvers and safety features such as the RTH function. Parrot Bebop Parrot Bebop has an exciting but pricey line of quadcopters, but they do offer the Bebop which comes with a built-in camera. This provides additional protection for your camera as itdoesn’thang down from the underside of the body on a gimbal. This drone is in a blue color with black highlights. The camera included on the Parrot is 14 megapixels and has full HD resolution at 1080 pixels. It is still supported within by a three axis stabilization system. It will record both video footage and take photographs. The Bebop has a fisheye camera that is great for capturing a wider range of the landscape in one go. Like many other drones in its class, the RTHReturn to
Home function will prevent you from losing your pricey investment. It can be flown up to some higher altitudes than your average toy Syma or UDI, which will allow you to film some breathtaking images of hills, mountains, and lakes. Walkera QR X350 Pro The Walkera QR X350 Pro is available in a shiny white plastic casing with the camera installed on the underside of the body to protect it from bounces. You’llhave fun using the hover mode on this quad, as it hovers steadily in place, taking video or shooting consecutive shots for a panoramic image. Like the other drones reviewed, this one also has a RTH function to help bring it back to starting position. It’squick to assemble and charge up. It has a strong stable body which should last for many years. It has IOC, which isWalkera’sform of headless mode. That way you can focus on flying and shooting great video, and not worry too much about which way is forward. It comes with an iLook video camera, installed on a G-2D gimbal. You can easily download video to your computer for editing and sharing. It will be difficult to choose from any of these five quadcopters, as they each have some great features. Some people may wish to pay for a drone with camera, rather than having to add one, for example to the Phantom 2. Do you research and check out the reviews to see if which drone with video will suit your work or entertainment purposes.
