Thèse hâve been carefully revised by Mr. Chouville. They pro-
vide a vocabulary of daily life. For the privilège of adding this
spécial feature to the work, thanks are due to M. Robert Hertz,
his colleagues and their pupils at the Lycée de Douai, to Miss
Pechey and her young friends, to the teachers and pupils of the
Lycée Racine (girls), Paris.
The method of using the Exercises is fully explained in a
leaflet, which is supplied ^^^/-.///j' to each teacher. They are care-
fully adapted to meet ail the possible requirements of candidates
entered for Preliminary Local and siinilar exaniinaiions, and
are specially designed to give, not only conversational facility,
but grammatical accuracy.
To make the work self-contained, a grammar outline has been
added.
