The LetraTAG can print oncoloured, transparent, metallic and iron-onfabric tapes. See the list of DYMO cassettesavailable for the LetraTAG XR at the end ofthis guide.LHeotrwaTtAoGusXeRyourDYMOGetting started: your first label in six easyspetsStep One - insert the batteries- Remove the battery cover (Fig A)- Insert six size AA alkaline batteries, observ-ing the polarity markings and close the cover. - Remove the batteries if the LetraTAG is toremain unused for some time. Step Two - insert the cassetteOpen the cassette door Insert cassette (Fig B). and gently press onthe centre of the cassette until it clicks intoplace (Fig C). Check the cassette is correctly positionedbefore closing the cassette door. Step Three - switch on Press the red button to switch on.Note: the label maker switches off automati-cally after 2 minutes if no keys are pressed.3KUStep Four - type a labelType a simple label first to try the machine.Learn more about formatting in the followingpages. Step Five - Print your labelPress “print” to print your label. Step Six - Cut the labelUse the cutter button on the right-hand sideof the LetraTag to cut the label (Fig E)Congratulations ! For example, pressing4the Ekey repeatedly in the French-languageversion will scroll through e - é - è - ê - ë. Ifyou wait for more than one second, the char-acter will be selected, and the cursor willmove on to the next position.Example:Type atwice, and the letter àappears. If you tap the key again within one second, áwill appear. Pause for a second, and the letter áwill be selected, and the cursor will move on to the next position.Graphic symbolsYou can also insert a number of graphicsymbols. To insert a symbol, press SYMBOL(SHIFT+ SPACE)The display will show: A-I? Press DELto cancel or press a letter key ‘A’to ‘I’ until you find the line of symbolsrequired. See table.Use Qor Rto select a symbol. Press `toplace the symbol in the label.Text over two linesYou can add a second line to your label bypressing `. If the display showsAbc`123,your label will print:cbA321The text will be centred on the label. Notethat you cannot print two-line labels in cer-tain formats (big font, vertical). If you trythis, the message Error 5will alert you.
Checking what you’ve typedThe display will show six characters of thetext you have typed, plus the cursor. ThePREVIEW function (press SHIFT+PRINT)will automatically scroll through entire text ofthe label. You can also scroll manuallythrough the label using the Qand Rkeys. If you want to edit the label, use the Qand Rkeys to move the cursor through the text tothe place you want, then type or delete.Adding a break between two labelsbTrheeak-’-.ll--Yofuunccatniouns(eStHhiIsFTto+eDn)diosneal‘laabbeel’lstext and start another. Storing text: the text bufferYou can store up to 70 characters in the textbuffer of your LetraTAG XR, in as many as 20labels. These characters will remain in thebuffer, even if you switch off. If you try totype when the text buffer is full, the messageERROR 4will appear. You will then havedelete part or all of the text in the buffer inorder to make a new label.You can quickly move to the beginning of thetbhueffeenrdbyofptrheessbiunfgfe<r <b(ySpHIrFTessin+gQ)>. >(GoSHItFTo.)R+To delete the entire contents of the buffer,press CLEAR(SHIFT+ DEL)5Formatting labelsYou can use a wide range of formattingoptions to change the font style in yourprinted label, such as font size, bold, italic,boxed, vertical etc. The way you formatthese characters is shown by a combinationof indicators above the text display. When one ormore of these indicators is highlighted, itshows the relevant formatting option is active:CAPS: Characters are typed as capital lettersThe label will be printed underlined or in a certain type of box.STYLEThe label will be printed in a certain selected text style.BThe label will be printed in Big Font .ezis123Numbers are selected instead of the characters.SHIFTThe shifted numbers or functions can now be accessedIf you try a combination of formats which themachine cannot produce, an error messagewill appear. Selecting the text sizePressing the SIZEkey (SHIFT+ A) will dis-play the size menu, with four options:CAPSSTYLEB123Bnarrow (condensed)normalwide (extended)Bbig font (highly visible labels using theentire print height)You can use Narrow, Normal and Wide fontsin two-line labels, where they will be reducedto half their normal height. Move the cursor to the required size with theQand Rkeys, and press `to select.Selecting the text stylePressing STYLE(SHIFT+ C) will display thestyle menu, with six options:CAPSSTYLEB123MDDDDNormalOutlineShadowItalic6You cannot combine these different textstyles, or use these styles with the big fontsetting.Move the cursor to the required style withthe Qand Rkeys, and press `to select. Cutting your labelThe cutter button is on the right of yourmachine. To cut a label push the cutter for-ward (Fig E). The label backing is split downthe middle for easy removal.
