Performance Note

The performer should start at any point on pages 1 or 2 (even mid-bar) and play through each following line, without interruption, at equal speed and dynamics, at least until the next occurrence of the starting line, which will be on page 3 or 4 (this will be easily identified by the code at the side of the line), stopping at some point (even mid-bar) between this second occurrence of the starting point and the end of the piece.

Compositional Note

The piece is composed through a number of concurrent processes based on a given random sequence of ten notes. The processes include exposition rules (f1: the sequence is presented from end to beginning, disclosing one note at a time; f2: sequences are made of an equal number of¼ and ⅛ notes, which increase or decrease by 1 at each iteration) re-write rules (f3: two consecutive ¼ notesof the same pitch are re-written as a ¾ note; f4: the final two ¼ notes of a sequence are always inverted) and termination rules (f5: an iteration increases until the full sequence is presented in ⅛ notes; an iteration decreases until there is a ¼ note followed by a ⅛ note).
