Women and work or anachronistic Europe
The European directives on equal opportunity at work (or in the labour field) have not produced de facto equality, far from it, whether the employer is a private or public body. For the author, Danièle Noguerol, this gap between the legal framework and reality is due either to uncomplete or falsified applications of the principle in the organization of the work itself, or to the disparity in the social situations of men and women, aggravated by general shortages in child care infrastructures. The picture undeniably differs from northern to southern Europe, but the difference is in degree, not in essence.
