2. Dengan terutama mempergunakan dokumen2 jang tersimpan dalam arsip2 Perantjis (Archives Nationales, Kementrian Hankam dan Angkatan Laut), J. Eymeret menggambarkan kembali tjiri2 utama dari politik Jacobin Daendels di Djawa. Selama tiga tahun dipulau Djawa (1808-1811), Daendels melakukan reforme2 jang meluas dan sangat penting artinja: pemindahan pusat ad- ministratip dari Kota ke Weltevreden (jang merupakan asal berdirinja kota Djakarta sekarang), pembangunan djalan besar jang terkenal (jang membalik halaman sedjarah ekonomi di Djawa), pengambilan politia jang ketat terdahap pembesar2 bumi- putera, jang sesudah itu terus dilaksanakan oleh pemerintah Hindia Belanda pada abad ke 19.
2. Using essentially preserved in the French archives (National Archives, War, Naval), J. Eymeret retraces the principle characteristics of the politics of jacobin Daendels in Java; during the three years of his presence on the island (1808-1811), some sweeping reforms were undertaken and it was much more than just a French interlude. Transfer of the administrative center from Ko ta to Weltevreden (which was the foundation of the present city of Djakarta), construction of the famous highway, which permitted development of the back country and turned a page in the economic history of Java, adoption of the politics of firmness with regard to the native princes, which was a préfiguration of the politics of the Government of the Dutch Indies during the XlXth century.
