B.Characters •Eddie and Beck are the present characters and they are fishing. C.Time •A: “Several bridges had recently been built”, “it wouldn’t be long until the countryside disappeared”, “and north section of Manhattan was still dotted with small farms.” D.Constructions •1. •In this document, nature and the urban city are working as one. The document portrays a city that is thriving because they harness nature. The message is that making NYC greener will allow not only a more harmonious urbanization but it will also be artistic in nature. P.Compare and contrast the visions of progress given in the three documents. •In document 1, Eddie and Beck view the industrialization period to be negative progress, as New York is losing its farms and wildlife to the new bustling city life. Document 2 is founded on the roaring 20s outlook, where bigger is better. Document two shows that skyscrapers were a progressive movement. In document 3, we see a combination of both document 1 and 2. There is the value of nature and urbanization. Progress in this document is one where urbanization and nature become circular and live harmoniously.

On vous demandait ici de rédiger une conversation : bien faire attention à la mise en page et ponctuation propres à ce type de sujet.

On tient ici à vous faire parler d'environnement : mobiliser tout le vocabulaire de cette thématique : pollution, greenhouse gas, global warming...

Pour parler du futur de Manhattan, on pouvait s'inspirer des documents étudiés pour la compréhension écrite.

Reprendre les caractéristiques des personnages : Beck → old man, Eddie + Beck → fishing, avis plutôt défavorable quant à la construction de plus en plus de batîments... Beck semble également très radical dans ses opinions « vowed to kill any man » → imaginer un discours.

Reprendre le nom de quelques sites : Hudson, Washington Heights...

2.You are Emma/Phil Wilson, an environmental activist. A new holiday resort is going to be built in the middle of a nature reserve. You write an article for Green Living magazine to denounce the problems raised by these plans and to suggest a few solutions.
