Revue de l’année 2009

De bonnes surprises en 2009 nous attendaient. Le mur réparé la fin de 2008

fut un grand soulagement pour notre Conseil d’administration. Cela permet

tant d’accorder une attention plus grande à nos programmes en 2009, malgré

le litige (du mur ) toujours en suspens.

Nous avons été à même de témoigner de notre mission , soit : « Vivre sa com

munauté: promouvoir et soutenir une culture de paix et de communauté ».

Nombre record d’étudiants dans nos cours de langues

Participation à un comité d’organisation des activités complémentaires

Aide au développement du projet de soutien auprès de la communauté

Augmentation des dons individuels après plusieurs années de déclin

Je voudrais remercier tous nos bénévoles et notre personnel pour leur enga-

gement exceptionnel à nos programmes . Je voudrais aussi souligner l’apport

inestimable de notre Conseil d’administration en 2009 (John Gutteridge, Joe

Smucker-vice président, Michel Monette, Tim Wideman –secrétaire, James

Bugden-trésorier, Jim Chism, France Proulx, Lucille Marr)

A yeAr in review-2009

Good surprises awaited us in 2009. Having the wall repaired meant a big sigh

of relief for our Board of Directors and a sense of looking forward. Although

litigation (Wall) is presently still in progress, we felt like a big step had been

accomplished and we could now focus on our “Embracing Community” Pro-

grams by promoting and supporting community and peace building activities.

Highlights for the year:

Two parking spaces were converted into a garden…a Greening Duluth

initiative

We operated a weekly farmers market in the neighbourhood… a

•

Greening Duluth initiative

•

A record number of students enrolled in our second language program

•

We participated in the organizing committee that planned activities

•

surrounding the visit of the Dalai Lama

•

We assisted with the organizing of the Peace Donors Network event

•

We facilitated the development of the new Mennonite Colombian

•

Immigrant Support Project in Sherbrooke, Montreal and Quebec City

We were blessed with another significant surprise anonymous donation

•

that allowed us to avoid a projected deficit

There was an increase in individual donations after a few years of decline

•

I would like to thank all of the dedicated volunteers and dedicated staff

persons who have made the running of all these programs and initiatives

possible. I would also like to thank the Board of Directors in 2009, (John

Gutteridge, Joe Smucker (Vice Chair), Michel Monette, Tim Wideman (Se
