elliott and associates therapy tips How to Achieve Emotional Health Emotional health can be broken down into several areas of concern, primarily based on whether one has the confidence within that area, namely: 1. Self-Confidence 2. Financial Confidence 3. Intellectual Confidence 4. Spiritual or Psychological Confidence Developing one's abilities in these four primary areas inone's personal lifedetermines the degree to which a person will be able to accomplish whatever tasks given to him or her. We all have assigned duties, whether in one's particular work or business or, in another sense, obligations imposed by certain beliefs, cultures or organizations, such as those of a priest, a parent or a soldier. We value persons who have attained excellence and extraordinary accomplishments. We adore or even imitate the artistry, wisdom or courage of the likes of Michelangelo, van Gogh, da Vinci, Einstein, the Beatles, Ghandi, Mandela and Helen Keller because they inspire us to become better than we can ever become. It is a challenge put before everyone. How does the ordinary individual attain a high level of emotional health, not really to make of one a Hall-of-Famer but a well-respected and worthy individual whom others can also look up to at as a positive model? We all need heroes and leaders in all areas of our life. Why not be the hero we can be?

It is a challenge put before everyone. How does the ordinary individual attain a high level of emotional health, not really to make of one a Hall-of-Famer but a well-respected and worthy individual whom others can also look up to at as a positive model? We all need heroes and leaders in all areas of our life. Why not be the hero we can be? Here are some steps as to how to sufficiently cover the four criteria above while achieving one's goal of emotional health as well as personal integrity: How to Achieve Self-ConfidenceSelf-confidence is basically appreciation of one's ability to perform one's duties and to achieve one's goals in life. Frustrations and lack of self-confidence often arise because of a person's inability to perform according to standards set either by that person or society-at-large. Setting high standards can be a deterrent to success; but it can also be a challenge for those who have the confidence and ambition. Training has a lot to do with gaining self-confidence. In many cases, early childhood training has a great bearing on building up a person's self-confidence. Children who were taught to assert themselves or their opinions in situations where they are aware of the moral consequences, however crude their understanding might be, grew up to become the leaders in their fields. The presence of many shy individuals in certain cultures is a picture of how upbringing and environment affect how we carry ourselves before others. Thrown into more liberal and assertive
cultures, these individual eventually adapt and gain more self-confidence. One can still learn to gain this virtue late in life even if much of the diffidence or shyness remains latent. Real self-confidence is having the ability to do one's expected tasks and duties when called upon, not mere bravado that some people display as a façade for their lack of self-confidence. How to Gain Financial ConfidenceContrary to popular belief, intelligence or being smart is not the requirement for achieving financial stability. We talk about stability in the sense of being able to remain content, moral and self-confident in spite of the lack of resources that many seem to value more than moral character. Having less than what others may have often leads many to feel insecure or to commit immoral or illegal acts that eventually destroy that person's life. It takes many factors to attain a certain level of financial confidence or what we can refer to as financial self-worth. For as the term implies, the real source of one's ability to support oneself materially is not wealth but the discipline and resolve to apply one's skills into something that is worthwhile doing and which provides one's needs in life. Often, sharing what one has with the less fortunate can be a great source of this form of confidence for it allows the individual to think of others' needs along with one's own. No greater accomplishment or service for humanity can be achieved as those done by the charitable people, such as philanthropists and others who serve society sacrificially. How to Develop Intellectual ConfidenceIntellectual confidence can be defined as one's ability to express, justify or defend one's beliefs, goals and ambitions in life. One need not be a graduate of Harvard or Oxford to claim that one has the mind equal and worthy to converse with a Galileo, a Mark Twain or an Einstein. In the end, those great individuals where humble thinkers themselves, not totally impressed but surprised by their own mental capacities. Intelligence is not primarily the ability to solve mathematical problems or discover great scientific ideas but the power to see the working principles in life and applying them into one's own in order to achieve the confidence to experience life to the fullest. For the artist, that could mean discovering ways to enhance one's craft through fresh and innovative ways and techniques not often done by others. For majority of people, it could simply mean being able to read a book, understand its basic message and to converse with others at one's level of comprehension. One need not parrot others' ideas or make one's own based on them, but to simply appreciate how to use one's mind to see the world and its potential for greatness and goodness. Many of the wisest people we do not know or recognize never had any formal education. Yet,
they have tilled the land, sailed the seas and scrounged the forests in order to feed thousands of us. Their knowledge is that of nature as a whole, not of mere artificial schools. How to Nurture Spiritual or Psychological HealthSpiritual health is one's ability to comprehend what life is all about and what one needs to do on a daily basis in order to make living life worth doing, not from mere compulsion but as a joyful adventure. This is the ultimate goal of all people. And yet, so many are distracted from this destination and end up somewhere else where other minor or useless rewards divert their minds and their hearts. Life is really not that complicated. We have made it so. But in ancient times, people had the serenity as well as the courage to face every situation in life with complete confidence. Nature was as clear-cut as it should be. It could feed and sustain people perpetually. As long as people respected nature, their mighty giver, they lived in prosperity and peace. It gave people internal stability. Today, however, nature has been replaced with technology. Light comes with the flick of a switch and often remains even when we do not need it. Music springs out of every corner and at the same time in some places. Going places is so convenient that one need not use one's legs as much as one should. All this comfort and convenience has brought about not spiritual health but mental stress and physical ailments, leading to unhappy and unfulfilled individuals. Achieving complete confidence in life is a life-long struggle. We mainly battle against ourselves and our perceived limitations. Very often, we need help and support from others. Having a friend who is knowledgeable and confident in life can be the greatest gift one can have to gain success ultimately.
