Introduction
Rationale Delinquency management is a major issue in Micro-finance. Success for a Micro-finance institution (MFI) starts with proper delinquency management. All staff in one MFI must be trained on delinquency management. From the field to the top management and trustees, everyone must be able to understand the mechanisms of delinquency and manage it. Delinquency management is a skill. It can be learnt like any other skill. Learning how to manage delinquency begins with understanding what is delinquency, its origins and consequences on the organization. Monitoring delinquency is a part of this skill also. Micro-finance staff must be trained on delinquency management from the very beginning, once they enter a MFI. Policies and procedures in any MFI must be designed in accordance with proper delinquency management practices. Preventing delinquency and acting on delinquent clients depend on this design. Objectives General ¾Being capable of managing efficiently delinquency in Micro-lending. Specific ¾Defining delinquency. ¾Identifying and understanding the causes and consequences of delinquency. ¾Knowing the main indicators to measure delinquency. ¾Identifying the difficulties in every program’s participant. ¾the good practices to prevent delinquency and handle delinquent clients.Identifying ¾Identifying the causes and consequences of delinquency in each MFI and programs to improve its delinquency management. ¾Determine the measures to take in each MFI and programs to improve its delinquency management. ParticipantsThis training is dedicated to managers, middle managers and field staff of Micro-finance institutions (MFI). The content of the activities and lectures must be adjusted upon the level of understanding of participants. Attendees could be involved ¾In operation management, with little background in financial management. ¾management with little background in Micro-finance.In financial This training is designed for 12 to 18 participants. Facilitator Facilitator must be knowledgeable in Micro-finance and specifically in delinquency management. This training manual aims at describing the content and the process of the module. Facilitator is proposed to follow a specific flow.
