Debt Line Advises Consumers to Know Their Rights When Dealing With Loan Companies
PR Newswire BOURNEMOUTH, England, July 27, 2012
BOURNEMOUTH, England,July 27, 2012/PRNewswire/ --Debt Management Company Debt Line Offers Advice to Consumers Dealing With Debt Debt Line helps almost 20,000 people deal with debt every month. It offers debt management services such as debt consolidation, debt management plan creation and it will deal with creditors on behalf of its customers. Whilst it is adept with dealing with debt problems on behalf of customers, it advises consumers to be aware of their rights when taking out any form of loan, from credit cards and store cards to payday loans and doorstep loans. Prevention is, after all, better than cure. The Office of Fair Trading has produced Debt Collection Guidance to ensure debt collectors don't rip off consumers and force people into corners regarding debt and unpaid loans. Debt Line has taken a close look at these guidelines and has made them available to its customers and website users. For starters companies should never force their customers to repay more than they can comfortably afford. Discussions should take place to ascertain a level of repayment both parties are happy with. Furthermore, if consumers make a reduced payment this payment should not, under any circumstances, be refused by the loan company. Whilst credit companies can charge a reasonable fee to cover administration and collection costs for dealing with non-payment, they are not allowed to charge exorbitant penalty fares of their own deeming. Debtors should not be treated with aggression, rudeness or coercion and all dealings between creditors and debtors should be clear and confusion-free. Additionally, creditors should not threaten debtors with legal action unless there are grounds to do so. It should not be used as a gimmick to get debtors to pay. Finally, Debt Line points out that if consumers have recruited the services of Debt Line and are utilising its UK debt consolidation services, creditors are not allowed to contact debtors directly. They must go through Debt Line for all communications and at all times. The full guide can be downloaded from Debt Line's website.
