Holidaymakers Warned of Fuel Policy Confusion
PR Newswire LONDON, August 2, 2012
LONDON,August 2, 2012/PRNewswire/ --Holidaymakers are being warned to research fuel policies before picking up hire cars at the rental desk to avoid confusion and paying surplus charges when returning the vehicle. The advice comes from leading car hire specialist eRentals.co.uk, as fuel policies are becoming a common complaint of car hire customers due to the confusion of the different policies available. The most common policies are full-to-full and full-to-empty. However, there are other options such as when the car is supplied with a variable volume of fuel and must be returned with the same volume of fuel.
Most Common Fuel Policies -
1.Full-to-full- The car is supplied with a full tank of fuel and must be returned by the customer with a full tank of fuel. 2.Full-to-empty- The car is supplied with a full tank of fuel which should be paid for upon collection of the vehicle and the car should be returned as empty as possible.
Briony Fairbairn of eRentals.co.uk says: "Most people often forget to check their fuel policies and as a result customers are often charged excess amounts for not meeting the terms and conditions of the fuel policy. "Our advice is to always have a look at the terms and conditions of the individual supplier before booking to see exactly what the fuel policy is to make sure it is the best for you. For full-to-empty policies it can be difficult to judge exactly how much fuel you have left in the tank of a car you are not familiar with and so most people end up being overly cautious, which as a result will see them returning the car with more fuel in it and therefore losing money. "It is also worth noting, that if you rent with a supplier that has a full-to-full policy, they will often state that you are entitled to bring the car back not full and pay a charge for the fuel. We would advise to always return the car with a full tank whenever possible, as the cost for filling up the petrol tank will have an additional charge for the company's time and so you end up paying more than if you had filled the car up yourself." eRentals.co.uk is a car hire specialist dedicated to providing customers with a wide range of vehicles at the lowest prices.
