HOUSTON,Aug. 22, 2012/PRNewswire/ -- The call for entries for the 33rd annual Hunting Art Prize in which participants vie for a$50,000award is now open to artists throughoutTexas.
Hunting PLC, the international oil services company that sponsors the competition, announced that those interested in entering must beTexas residents and at least 18 years of age byAug. 1, 2012. Artists can participate by filling out the electronic sign up form available at www.huntingartprize.com and uploading one digital image of their artwork in a JPEG format.Single, two-dimensional paintings or drawings no larger than 72 inches by 72 inches will be considered for the prize. All entries must be received by Hunting PLC no later than midnight,Friday, Nov. 30, 2012. After submissions have been reviewed to ensure compliance with contest rules, the entries will be judged according to a two-tiered jury process.A panel of jurors will first evaluate the digital files and select individuals to move on to the final tier.Those chosen will be asked to submit the original artwork represented by their digital file for consideration in a second round of judging to determine the winning piece. The recipient of the 2013 Hunting Art Prize will be announced at a gala onMay 4inHouston. At a separate event following the gala, Hunting PLC will present a charitable contribution on behalf of the cometition to New Danville, a self-sustainin,
master-planned community supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.This is the second consecutive year the nonprofit has been selected as the Hunting Art Prize charity.
