IBM System Storage N series Antivirus Scanning Best Practices Guide

Introduction IBM® System Storage™ N series solutions include integrated antivirus functionality to protect corporate data from computer viruses. The combined solutions are designed to detect and prevent the spreading of malicious virus code before data is compromised. The antivirus architecture for the N series is designed to protect data accessed by Microsoft® Windows® software-based clients or other clients that access data with the Common Internet File System (CIFS) protocol. This architecture also protects against viruses by initiating scans on content downloaded from the Internet. N series systems offload the antivirus scanning activity to antivirus (AV) servers for maximum scalability and performance. Best -of-breed antivirus solutions are available from Symantec, McAfee, Trend Micro, and Computer Associates. These solutions augment the existing antivirus infrastructures that companies use and deploy today. This IBM Redpaper describes the integrated antivirus architectures for the System Storage N series.
