When it comes to hot drinks, a weighty 42% of Brits choose tea as their favourite, as revealed in a recent survey conducted by Emma Bridgewater, the British pottery company that produces in Stoke-on-Tent. The survey demonstrates that despite a wide variety of hot drinks on offer, Brits love nothing more than a good cup of tea.
[1] Coffee, which has traditionally been enjoyed in the UK since 1652 (when the first coffee house opened in London ), is Britain's second favourite, with 38% saying it's their preferred hot drink.
Britain's top five favourite hot drinks are:
1. Tea (42%) 2. Coffee (38%) 3. Hot chocolate (15%) 4. Hot fruit drinks/herbal tea (3%) 5. Malt drink (2%)
With tea and coffee the nation's top two favourite hot drinks, hot chocolate takes third place, with 15% of us enjoying this most. Less popular choices include hot fruit drinks and herbal tea, with 3% of Brits choosing these as their favourites. Malt drinks are the nation's fifth favourite with a conservative 2% of Brits selecting this option.
