Public Appetite for New Shows Points to a Bumper Year for Theatreland

The first annualTheatrePeople.com Awardslaunched in October with an invitation to UK theatregoers to vote for their favourite shows and stars. The winners are announced today.

After a challenging summer with the Olympics and other major events, West End theatre ticket sales have bounced back to record levels thanks to a big-time boost from a stunning range of new productions that are set to blow the roof off Theatreland in 2013.

Voters in the most keenly contested category,The Hottest Ticket Award, were invited to choose the play or show from next year's roster that they most wanted to see.

The vote and associated surge in ticket sales have provided a strong indication of public demand for these and other new shows which look set to help deliver a record year for West End Theatre in 2013.
