Explanatory notes (for fuller details, see Courrier des statistiques, annual selection in English no. 15):
Classifications of activities: NAF is fully nested in NACE; NACE is based on ISIC.
Classifications of products: CPA has the same structure as NACE but with more detail.
CPF is identical to CPA and therefore well-matched with NAF.
CPC mentions ISIC origin for products, although its structure is different.
The Prodcom list of industrial products gives a detailed breakdown of CPA categories; it makes reference to NACE; France uses an adapted version
called Prodfra.
The complex link between Prodcom and Prodfra is due to the fact that Prodfra does not always follow Prodcom’s detailed breakdown.
Arrows indicate the connections from the most detailed to the most aggregated classifications; this concerns the common field shared by two
classifications. For connections between (1) external-trade classifications and (2) CPC, CPA, and Prodcom, the common field is confined to goods.
"Nesting" denotes a hierarchical relationship; a single item of the "nesting" classification may correspond to one or more items of the "nested"
classification.
"Table" denotes a relatively complex relationship that requires a conversion table.
"Activities-products" denotes a relationship reflecting a conceptual change: the shift from an activity classification to a product classification.
