Chairs in the Faculty, with one vacant Tier 1 Chair in Engineering. Engineering has an endowed
chair supported by Sierra Wireless. Three faculty (two in Engineering and one in Computer Science)
hold Michael Smith Foundation career awards, and several hold NSERC strategic and CHRP grants.
Research centres and institutes
The Faculty of Applied Sciences houses the following research institute:
Institute of Micromachine and Microfabrication Research (IMMR)
Its goal is to enhance micromachining research and development and to encourage the
application of research results in the design and fabrication of miniature sensors and actuators.
