 GERMANY ­ M OROCCO  An Ethnography about Migration, Networks and Experienced Discrimination   von  Christine Ostermann    Dissertation eingereicht zur Erlangung des Doktorgrades (Dr. phil.)  Fakultät für Erziehungswissenschaft  Universität Bielefeld   Gutachter Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Heitmeyer  Prof. Dr. Isabell Diehm  2011    2          to Alice and Karl                    Die vorliegende Dissertation wurde bei der Fakultät für Erzie hungswissenschaft der Universität Bielefeld im November 2010 eingereicht . Das Promotionsverfahre n wurde am 23.  Februar 2011 erfolgreich mit der Disputation abgeschlossen.   Gedruckt auf holz ‐ und säurefreiem, alterungsbeständigem Papier  °° ISO 9706     3                     Abstract This work portrays the Moroccan  diaspora community in Frankfurt, Germany and investigates the reactions to challenges in the  diaspora, the structures of social network relations and the handling of experienced discriminations in everyday life. Methodologically it is based on stationary ethnographic fieldwork in Frankfurt and the Northe rn Moroccan Rif lasting fourteen months in total. Theoretically the study refers to assumptions on the interrelatedness of emigration and immigration, the detailed insights into personal embededness through social network analysis and the imp acts of unfulfilled needs and experience d discriminations.
