Abstract I Abstract Neuronal migration and differentiation are key processes in the development of the vertebrate central nervous system, but many of the involved genes, underlying mechanisms and pathways still remain unknown. Because of its prominent expression during zebrafish (Danio rerio) brain development, we have analyzed the regulation, biochemical interaction, subcellular localisation and function of the novel gene lunaparkA (lnpA) and its encoded protein. The lnpA gene is highly conserved among vertebrate species concerning its nucleotide sequence and its regulation of expression.
