The objective of this workshop was to draw up recommendations for
sampling aerosols in animal houses in terms of sampling procedures, choice
of sampler(s) and methods of assay and analysis.
The recommendations for general aerosol sampling procedures (GASP)
presented here are the outcome of the workshop. They represent the
consensus views of the participants. It is the hope and belief of the
participants that adherence to these recommendations will improve the
quality of research in air hygiene and facilitate comparisons between
different studies. Overall the adoption of common techniques will improve
our understanding of how diseases are transmitted by air and aerial
pollutants affect animal and human health.
