Article 13. and Regulation (EEC) No. 2380/74 of the Council of Ministers) January-Dune 1979 Abstract In the subproject Swelling of Advanced Fuels the GOCAR irradiation series is further pursued and the experiment POCY 02 has been sent to Petten. Microscopic swelling was analysed in a carbide pin section at 6 a/o burn-up and a more pronounced transition at the critical temperature found then at 1.3 a/o burn-up. Characteristic differences of microscopic swelling in nitride (GOCAR II) as com­pared with carbide (DPI, GOCAR I) consist of a higher critical temperature for microscopic swelling but a lower temperature at which grain boundary bubbles appear, and rather low bubble densities in general. In the course of the analysis of microscopic swelling further measurements of retained Xc and Cs and of Cr were made with the microprobe on fuels of GOCAR I and IV.
