the analysis of changes
in work organisation
EF/80/22/E N PREFACE
This volume covers a series of research projects carried out in
five countries of the Community in order to test the analysis model
for monitoring new forms of work organisation which was devised "by the
European Foundation in Dublin.
The studies contained herein present experiments in reorganisation of
work, described and analysed on the basis of the model. The purpose was
as follows:
— to compare experiments carried out in the various countries and to
highlight points of convergence and of divergence arising from the-
specific economic and cultural characteristics of each of the
countries concerned;
- to develop the model, the aim of which is twofold: to facilitate
the collection of information and comparable data, and to provide
decision-makers with a tool for the analysis and evaluation of
changes affecting work organisation.
The five reports were evaluated by three groups representing the
governments, employers and trade unions respectively. Each group com
pared the analysis contained in the reports with the experience of its
members and, if appropriate, made proposals for improving the situation.
The opinion of each group was set down in a document entitled "Evaluation
report". • 2

The Foundation wishes to emphasise that the analyses and opinions
contained in this study are the sole responsibility of the authors.
