Typically the very appropriate Shower Stalls
Rain, I can definitely do without; but I can't live without showers. Can you?
If you can’t, and want put in a shower stall, read on.
Kinds of Installation
You might like to lay your own tile, but this is more troublesome than you might think, and you might
make a critical mistake that ends up costing you a lot of money.
You can hire professionals to make your dream shower, designed especially for your bathroom. But that
can be a very lengthy and pricey proposition, though it may well be worth it to you in the long run.
Another option is to purchase a ready-to-install shower stall. These are prefabricated showers can be
installed easily, even by a homeowner, in one day. Generally, they're cheaper than tile, but not as
pretty. Homeowners can choose several types of ready-to-install
bathroom mirrors cabinet
to match the
motif of an existing bathroom.
Prefab units come in single-piece or multiple-piece. Some of the single-piece units might be little enough
to squeeze through your house’s doors, but most of the larger units probably aren’t. Some of the
multiple-piece shower stalls have full-sized tubs and walls that connect to the top of the tub.
Yet another option, if you have an existing shower stall or tub that is still basically sound, is to acquire a
shower stall overlay. These are prefab coverings that attach to an existing
bathroom radiators
or tub.
These overlays can be used to improve the appearance of an existing shower, to add useful features
such as hand bars or soap trays, or to administer a lasting fix for cracks or leaks.
Materials
Fibreglass stalls are the cheapest available, but they tend to turn yellow in time, and their quality and
longevity aren’t the best. Most of these are fairly small and basic, though manufacturers are branching
out into larger, more colourful, fancier units.
Acrylic is similar to fibreglass, but has a smoother finish. Some shower stalls use an acrylic coating over a
fibreglass shell, combining the low cost of fibreglass with the nicer look of acrylic. Acrylic stalls are more
likely to be large units containing a regular tub, but some are just little shower stalls. Acrylic prefab
showers are somewhat higher priced than fibreglass but are usually of better quality and durability.

stalls are composed of stone mixed with resin and then cast into a specific
shape. These stalls offer the exquisite look of marble or other stone and are almost as tough as stone.
Because of the materials used in their manufacture, these shower stalls tend to be more costly than
either fibreglass or acrylic stalls.
Shower Screens
In framed screens, the glass is skinny and fully supported by a metal frame that surrounds it on all sides.
Framed screens are typically the cheapest in the range and are very useful in terms of their design.
Frame less screens use thick, sturdy glass that can stand by itself without a frame. The glass panels are
bolted together at the top and bottom and affixed to the shower walls. A frame less screen is an
attractive option, and they also allow for artistic tiling and surfacing.
Semi-frame less screens have a frame along the top and base of the screen, leaving the sides unframed.
This option provides much of the aesthetic appeal of a frame less shower screen while also providing the
stability of a framed screen.
