Description

“Now, I Play” is the first collection in a trilogy. The poems reflect the fun-filled mischievous
adventures of a child as she begins to thoroughly observe and comment on the people she
encounters and the environment in which her everyday adventures take place. Softwinds
adds a good dose of humour and a pinch of child-like honesty that tend to leave audiences
clamoring for more.
Softwinds’ poems are brought to life in this first ever illustrated collection, that has come to
fruition through close collaboration with Qathleen Sioc, a young and very talented illustrator.

First Word
This is the first in a series of
poems which are meant to be
recited, acted out, enjoyed!
I hope they enthrall and inspire
poets of all ages!
Lovingly Dedicated
to my daughter, Jools,
and my son, Ari,
the first to bring
these poems to life;
and to my friends
Ramona and Karla,
for their persistent
encouragement and support.
In Loving Memory
of my godson and nephew,
Chico (1976-2021),
who would have enjoyed
this book.
The Invisible Line
My sister and I
share a room
That’s ten and four
by more feet
square.

She’s twice my age,
and thrice my weight
And ever,
oh ever so nasty.
A piece of thread,
or a speck of dust

(believe it or not)
is quite enough
to drive her crazy.

Some time during
our wonderful days
together, She contrived
a solution to her plight.
