The Saltwater Poet Poetry Collection is the lifetime work of James M. Rankin. James has written five volumes of poetry dating back thirty-five years. The titles are, The Poems from the Spirit of Hope, Inner Renaissance Rediscovered, The Philosopher Poet, Dawning of the Day, and Sand, Sun and Saltwater. The collection is his favorite, meaningful and dynamic poetic rhymes. The book is divided into six categories: Nature, Love, Developmental, Philosophical, Creative and Spiritual. This collection of poetry is dedicated to all people who desires to express with the world their most innermost and cherished thoughts; thereby, turning emotions into an art form in order to stir the spirit of others. Poetry is a calling that needs to be encouraged, nurtured and valued by our communities and for the sake of our culture.
Poet’s Message
First, I want to thank you for taking time out of your life to take a brief journey into my creative world. These poems span my entire life capturing the brief emotional moments forever.
The collection are my favorite poems from my previous works. There are poems from my books of poetry entitled, ‘Poems from the Spirit of Hope’, ‘Dawning of the Day’, ‘The Philosopher Poet’ and the ‘Inner Renaissance Rediscovered’ including some new and never published poems.
I remember earlier in my career I had a Poet Laureate read my work. I will never forget their comment. The individual said that I did not have to try so hard. In reviewing the hundreds of poems that I have written over the years it became apparent that there was some truth in that statement.
As you perfect your craft, it is important to practice and hone your skills. There were poems that perhaps should have been shelved; however, it was interesting to read these poems for they contained the emotional and intellectual season of a thought.
In this collection, the book is divided into six (6) categories of Poetry: Nature, Love, Developmental, Philosophical, Creativity and Spiritual. It is my hope that you will enjoy the flow of rhyme, the power of words, and the meaning embedded in each verse. Also, I hope that you will strike out and write about your life in a poetic form. I send you peace and blessings now and forever.
