DEDICATIONS

To the world’s greatest gentle giant and his family who raised a good man...Zane Ashten Simons rest in peace
For all of our soldiers of any branch and for anyone who cannot outlive their story through reality, make this your story.
To my niece Alexa, baby girl, you are the strongest girl I know and you never give up or give in. I am so proud of you and what you are accomplishing. We wear purple, and fight like Alexa. Aunt JJ loves you so much.
To every person in the world with epilepsy or seizures, I know what life is like with it and I stand for all of you who deal with it. It is a disorder that causes seizures in the brain and it is a struggle every day trying not to wake up in pain, covered in bruises, and it isn’t fun when you end up in the hospital because of it...but we all fight that war every day because of epilepsy.
To the people who haven’t given up on me, God, my family, and my friends...Thank you all for supporting me in my dream of being an author. Imagine all the places that I will go through all of the books. It’s the quickest kind of time travel. I love you all.

IN LOVING MEMORY

Zane Ashten Simons was born on February 11, 1998, to Mr. and Mrs. Simons. He resided in Tyler, Tx and he had the heart of the most gold. He and his little brother were best of friends; a friendship nothing could destroy. Zane was a gentle giant, best friend, brother, and son, someone you needed in your life. The world misses you and loves you still every day Zane Simons. You told me in 2017 at Kamp Kaleidoscope in Anna, TX that you wished you could serve your country and be a hero, but because of epilepsy that was impossible, so I wrote this book in your honor and gave you a story unlivable by reality. If you served our country or not gentle giant, you were still a hero every day. Remembering you and loving you is the easiest, we do it every day, but missing you is a heartache that never goes away. Written in loving memory of Zane Ashten Simons in honor of Kaiden, Shannon, Cheryl, John, and Marianne Simons. A family that raised a soul that this world loved and needed, taken too soon but always cherished, loved, and rememb ered.

PREFACE
INTRODUCTION
“You never know how strong you are, until being strong is the only choice you have.”
UNKNOWN
It has been several years in progress, but I welcome the book, “Eyes of the Heart” to the world. A heart-touching fiction story about several squadrons of marines that find themselves in the middle of a chaotic war in Afghanistan and Iraq. However, little did the Lieutenant know that the woman he fought beside would become more than just a sister that he protected in war.
First, I wrote this storyline because I was inspired by the trust and grace of God, it was his mercy that helped me get through this book. Also, a very dear friend of mine who had epilepsy, said, “I just wish I could have served in the military as my father did, but because of epilepsy that is impossible,” so I gave him an alternate life through this book. And if you don’t know, epilepsy is a brain disorder that causes several different types of seizures and you’ll find in the book that a soldier’s son and little sister are found to have the same thing.
Second, I have been writing this book for almost six years now and by the time it is done and gets out to the world, it will have been longer. However, I was inspired and led by all of the family and friends I have that have served or are currently serving this beautiful country. I have had parents, an aunt, several uncles, grandparents, cousins, brothers, sisters, and friends too that have served or are serving and they were my inspiration to write this book with a military background. I thank all our soldiers and veterans for their service and fighting. It is because of them that we are the country we are today.
Third and last, in this book, you will find a soldier who fights courageously to protect his family and brothers in the chaos. First Lieutenant Matthews, a single man, finds himself falling in love with Private Brooks, and he’s from a small town where his whole squadron just happened to live. They were best friends, but more like family. They raised their children together, fought together and they fell together and loved together. They fight love unconditionally for the country they fight for.
Every day in the world there is someone who is told no that they can’t do something, because of who they are, what they have, or even what they do. There are many people who will never have the chance to live the lives they desire, so why not give someone the chance to live a life through a story?
By saying this, all around the world there is someone who wants to give their lives for someone, die heroically and even they may want to serve their country on the front lines, but they can’t. A man or woman will fight in a foreign country like Iran, Iraq, or Afghanistan, while others won’t ever have the chance to see through the windows of their soul.
For example, First Lieutenant Matthews’ little sister, Marine, has a neuro-disorder, so she will never have the chance to carry out a military career. Marine will never fight as her brother did. Marine, all she knows is the experience she will have through the stories she hears from her brother Louis Matthews. Marine soldiers take on toils and dangers all the time which they are willing to do without hesitation. Matthews and several other squadrons will board a plane and they will arrive in Afghanistan for tour two. However, after learning he will be a father, First Lieutenant Matthews has to leave behind his wife who fought on the front lines as well. Private Brooks will be staying home during the last few months of her pregnancy to prevent harm to baby Matthews.
Nathaniel Louis Matthews and his squadron will have a tough fight that will all be worth it. There will be a tragedy and there will be a loss, but Marine Matthews will have a hero’s life to honor either way. Some will give all and all will give some in all their own ways. Major Johnson will lead his men and women through a war against the demons of fury and Matthews will learn a difficult lesson. Give all respect, love, and honor to your men and women who live through war.
My name is Jacey Mitchell Booth and I hope this story touches you as deeply as it did me while I was writing it. You will feel, cry, fear, and long for the next thing, hoping the marines come out on top. You will chase the next big thing, for example will they be together or will their hearts break for the person who no longer fights beside someone else. You will long for there to be a happy ending, but you will have to read to find out. Please enjoy reading my first book of this series, “Eyes of the Heart.” It is a book full
