Description

Rejected by her parents, Mary’s life becomes a fairytale until evil takes over; tormented by demons, only Jesus can bring the healing she desperately needs.

They Call Me Mary of Magdala serves as an inspiring example of the grace, healing and love Jesus offers to all who believe—no matter how hopeless life seems.
For Mary Magdalene, growing up beautiful was a blessing and a curse that took her from the warm embrace of her Auntie’s home, to being sold by her own parents to slave traders. Bought by a wealthy man to be the wife of his grandson, Mary lives a fairy tale life until she is traumatized by her beloved Misha’s evil brother. The suffering she experienced at the hands of evil sends her into a place of deep darkness where the demons of Fear, Suicide, Shame, Addiction, Hatred, Rage, and Death are her only companions.
With her beloved servant, Zara, she escapes to live with temple prostitutes until finally being reunited with her beloved Auntie. With her invincible spirit, Mary finds the strength to fight her demons and comes face to face with the only person who can deliver her.
A beautiful story of courage, hope, pain, and redemption revealing that true healing is found only in the powerful love of Jesus.

This book is dedicated to the two great loves of my life.
To my one and only Glorious Savior, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Meeting You at the age of twenty-five was the best thing that ever happened to me and walking alongside You for these last thirty-three years have made me who I am today. Without You, my life would have no meaning. You are my Savior, my Redeemer, and my Healer. My heart overflows with gratitude every day for who You are to me. I will praise You as long as I have breath in my l ungs…
To my beloved late husband, Michael Joseph Theriault. You showed me what true unconditional love looks like. You believed in me and inspired me every day of our fifteen and a half years of marriage. Though leukemia cut your life short, your legacy lives on in my heart. You continue to inspire me even after being gone these many years. Our life together was a gift from God, and I loved being your wife, your True Companion, and your Flower of the Son. I miss you every day and I look forward to our glorious reunion in heaven where we will never have to say goo dbye…

GLOSSARY
ABBA FATHER - “Abba” is the defining term for father in the Aramaic language, spoken by Jesus and Paul as an intimate term to characterize their personal relationships with God.
ADONAI - We know that God often has many names throughout the Bible ( Isaiah 9:6 ), all of these names having significant meaning or highlighting a certain attribute of God. One of the most prominent names used for God in the Old Testament is the name Adonai. Adonai is a Hebrew word that translates as “Lord” of “Lord Master” from its derivation “soverei gnty”.
ELOHIM - Elohim is the infinite, all-powerful God who shows by His works that He is the creator, sustainer, and supreme judge of the w orld.
EL ROI - The God who SEE S me.
EL SHADDAI - Literally, this name means “God Almighty,” and it is among the most frequently appearing names for God in the B ible.
JEHOVAH JIREH - The LORD will pro vide.
RABBI - (Hebrew: “my teacher” or “my master”) in Judaism, a person qualified by academic studies of the Hebrew Bible and the Talmud to act as spiritual leader and religious teacher of a Jewish community or congrega tion.
YESHUA - First, it is the understanding that “Yeshua” is a more personal name of Jesus because it originated in the lifetime that Jesus was alive on e arth.
Those who were fluent in Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic would decipher that “Yeshua” meant “deliverer, savior,” and realize this man was more than just a man.

CHAPTER 1 Mary
Where It All Began
MY NAME IS Mary, a common name, and common is what many have called me. I’ve known horror and torture at the hands of many people in my life. I’ve known sorrow and pain as well. But it wasn’t always this way, and ever since He walked into my world, nothing has ever been the same.
When I first saw the one they call Yeshua, something fluttered in my heart, for He was so familiar to me. Battling the demons in my mind as the faces of the men I’d encountered in my life flashed before my eyes, I couldn’t figure out where He fit in. And then I remembered. Nazareth—it’s where I would go whenever my father would leave and not come back for many nights. It’s where my mother would send me, to the small village a day’s walk from our home, to stay with my sweet Auntie Naomi, her only sister. Now all these years later, standing here staring up into the cloudless blue sky, my mind rewinds and I am transported back in t ime … .
I see only glimpses of our life before we came to live near my mother’s family. My father was a fisherman on the Sea of Galilee. He was from the town of Magdala and would sometimes take me with him in the early mornings before my mother would wake. “Shh, let’s not wake your mother,” he would say as we gathered the supplies to go out and catch the fish that would pay for our food and make my father smile. But one day he didn’t come back at the usual time and my mother was frantic with worry. She did not know where he fished, but I did, and even at five years old, I could find my way in the dark.
“Run,” she said. “Go and find what has happened to your father.” So, I ran as fast as my little feet would carry me and it was then I spotted the crowd around my father’s boat. He lay on the shoreline, still and life less.
“Father, Father!” I screamed as the people let me through. He was bare
