This genealogy was started, about 1885, by Rev. Moses H. Bixby, D. D. Pastor of the' Cranston Street Baptist Church of Providence, R. I., a very large and active church. In addition to the care of this large church he was a trustee of the Baptist Foreign Missionary Society and of Brown University, and it is astonishing to learn that in the midst of his multitudinous duties he found time to gather the materials which formed the nucleus of this genealogy.
