Foreword
Why a Quiz Book? Wy do we need a Bible quiz book? Isn’t ead knowledge witout eart knowledge a dangerous combination? Of course it is (1 Corintians 8:1). But wy sould te quest for knowl-edge be at odds wit te goal to love te Lord our God wit all our earts? Does tis ave to be an eiter-or coice? As Jesus relates te greatest commandment (Deuteronomy 6:5), e brings out its deeper meaning. In Mattew 22:37, Mark 12:30, and Luke 10:27, e addsmindto te equation. We are to love God wit all our eart, soul, strengt, and mind. Well, are we doing tat—loving God wit all our mind?
Mathetai Cristians often srink from te intellectual side of te fait for vari-ous reasons. (“I’m too busy to read…I ave trouble concentrating…I tink prayer is more important.”) But surely tis is to deny our Master is rigt to be Lord of all, including our minds. Let’s tink about te word often used in te book of Acts for Cristians:disciples. In fact, te Bible uses many names for a follower of Jesus Crist.Believer, broter, saint, Cris-tian,anddiscipleare te most common ones. Eac term empasizes a dif-ferent aspect of our common experience or attitude in Crist. he word translateddisciplein te Greek New Testament ismatetes(ma-tey-tays). Wat does tis mean?Matetescomes from te verbmantanein,wic means “to learn.” hus, matetai(plural) are learners. he lexicon defines discipleas “learner, student, pupil, apprentice,” so all tese meanings are reasonable translations. Are we learners? Some Cristians tink tey’re too old to be learners or students. And yet we see in God’s Word tat if we aren’t learners, we aren’t really followers of Jesus Crist. Eac one of us is called, regardless of age, gender, education, or culture, to be a student. We are to be students of

uman nature and te world around us, persons eager to learn from any-ting and anyone. Above all, we are called to be avid students of te Word. Am I accurately described as a student? his isn’t te only aspect of biblical Cristianity tat sould be stressed—I ope I am also a true believer, a loyal broter, and a devoted saint wit a torougly Cristian mind-set—but it is certainly a fundamental one. Being learners means tat we must ask questions. It also entails being questioned and defending our fait. Testing proves caracter. Tests solidify knowledge. Altoug not in an academic context, in 2 Corintians 13:5 Paul tells is readers, “Test your-selves.” (Some versions read “Examine yourselves.”) To cement knowl-edge into our memory so tat it doesn’t slip away, tere is noting like a good test! I put togeterhe Ultimate Bible Quiz Bookwit tis in mind. It con-tains 109 Bible quizzes for your learning and enjoyment. Some are only a few questions long, wile te longest, “he Cosmic Bible Quiz,”contains 100. Questions come from all 66 books of te Bible. I’ve even included a time test so you can see ow fast you are! May te Lord use tis little book to sarpen our minds, wet our spir-itual appetites, and draw us closer to Him. Test yourself!
