Foreword
The World of Work is rebooting. Businesses are re-imagining and re-engineering themselves. Challenging established norms and rebuilding livelihoods are essential imperatives. In the era of intelligence and changing global landscape, the approach of doing business has been transformed significantly, which has provided scope for different trends and paradigms in the field of business management. These changes are being experienced in cultural, social, political, and technological spheres as well. The COVID related pandemic has also elevated business practices and allied disciplines. This has revolutionized the working styles of business entities which opens the doors for researchers to think and ponder upon the contemporary business trends. The impact of the COVID-19 is being felt by all businesses across the globe. Leaders are navigating a broad range of interrelated issues that span from keeping their employees and customers safe, shoring-up cash and liquidity, reorienting operations and navigating complicated government support programs. The world of work is being profoundly affected by the pandemic. In addition to the threat to public health, the economic and social disruption threatens the long-term livelihoods and wellbeing of millions. The pandemic is heavily affecting labour markets, economies and enterprises, including global supply chains, leading to widespread business disruptions.
In light of this, the prime focus of this book is to identify multiple ways to manage these changes across the globe. The book aims to enable to reflect, deliberate, and suggest necessary and desired measures in the present challenging business scenario in fields of marketing, human resources management, financial management, technology management, sustainability etc.
The book will highlight on the different challenges which are presently being faced by the global and Indian business environment and suggest measures, trends for shaping and reshaping future business opportunities and possibilities. Moreover, it will bring an exploratory insight on the best business practices in the era of innovation and novelty.
I am sure that the book will be useful in terms of bridging the gap between existing literature and future research requirements with respect to contemporary business trends in the Post COVID scenario. This book shall provide an interdisciplinary platform for stakeholders to present and deliberate the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns as well as emerging challenges encountered and solutions adopted in their respective disciplines during the post COVID scenario.

Preface
The business environment in contemporary times operate at the intersection of AI and public policy, which has led to creation of new frontiers in relation to sustainable development. While the COVID pandemic brought new challenges for policy makers as well as for businesses, it also provided an opportunity for businesses to reintegrate their processes so as to widen the spectrum of economic wellbeing. That the global supply chain disruption has dominated the economic discourse and communities are feeling the heat of inflation did not stop the businesses from coming up with innovative changes in spheres ranging from leadership to financial literacy and blockchain to banking interventions. The sudden surge in work from home, which is now becoming the norm, is a universal phenomenon which goes on to show universal alignment of business processes. The economic policies and financial intervention programs undertaken by government bears the imprint that government is eagerly trying to reimagine the public private participation in order to create a balanced consumption-production cycle.
To the extent of how businesses have changed course and its metastasizing effect on society, this book “Contemporary Business Trends” serves a repertoire of these trends and documents the patterns which will be of immense help to policy makers as much as to academics and practitioners. This book is an attempt to re-imagine the ways of doing business and optimization of constraints on a path to sustainable development and prosperous future. This book is a result of an international conference which was a unique meeting of minds that brought various stakeholders like academics and practitioners on one platform and threadbare deliberated on issues which impact our economic well-being. The book has been thematically structured and organized for the readers in a manner that they will take joy in reading the scholarly papers on various issues, in whatever order they want to read it. That the book not only draws readers towards pressing issues of our times but also provide plausible frameworks to navigate them successfully. The 18 papers, written by erudite scholars and academics on themes “ Contemporary issues in Human Resources Management, Financial Management, Technology Management, Entrepreneurship and Sustainability and Challenges brought by Covid pandemic ” have been written in a lucid manner so that readers can get the most out of this book. Every paper has engaged in the critical analysis of the issues and almost all the contours of respective themes have been covered. Besides, this book is an invitation to intellectual engagement to re-imagine the pedagogy of the most significant economic concerns of contemporary times

Introduction
In a world slowly coming to terms with post-Pandemic life and radically changed business environments, new megatrends have emerged in various sectors, creating unique imperatives in the world of work.
The 2 nd edition of the Conference on Contemporary Business Trends (ICCBT) was hosted by NIT Srinagar, in partnership with Confederation of Indian Industry’s Young Indians (CII-Yi) as a platform to present a blend of rigorously researched papers and live discussions with industry experts, focussed on emerging issues in the world of business.
Over 100 well researched papers spread across nine tracks were presented. The broad themes covered by the researchers included, but were not limited to, the following:
• Changed Marketing Models • New products and services emerging during the Pandemic • Renewed efficiency in operations • Dealing with supply chain disruptions • Reverse urbanisation trends • Stress in Cash flow and working capital management • Digitisation and Information Technology • Occupational Health and Safety • Ethics and Economics • The Great Resignation and the churn of Human resources • Women at Work • Fostering Workplace Inclusivity • Building Corporate Culture in Remote Work environments • Agricultural Practices and Climate Change • New Habits and Consumer Behaviour trends • Reskilling to stay employable • The Metaverse and Privacy • Using Sport for Development and Peace • The Pace and Platforms of Human Interactions • New Media for targeted Information Delivery • The New Indian Food Plate and its implicat ions
In addition, text based dialogue using the abstracts of the papers and curated classic and contemporary literature were also used as anchors for moderated huddles where all participants shared their thoughts in discussion groups and breakout rooms on issues ranging from Skills, Empathy, Agility & Resilience, Justice and Fairness, The Responsibility of Heroism, Leading in a Crisis, Re-energizing legacy businesses, Cryptocurrency & New global payment sys tems.
Thus, a wide range of megatrends were researched and deliberated and a curated set of interesting papers have been put together in this anthology on contemporary business trends to preserve some of the key learnings for a wider audience.
Many thanks are due to the ICCBT 2022 organising team, CII and Young Indians’ leadership from across India, Academic Partner Institutions, Researchers, Faculty and Scholars who provided stellar inputs during the conference and helped organise a world class event, hosted at the NIT Srinagar campus. Sincere appreciation to Dr Shama Zaidi, Aries Agro Limited, for her timely assistance and attention to detail while getting this book ready for publication.
