Introduction
The state of happiness is the mythical, mystical goal that we each hold tightly in our hearts and dreams. The reality is that nobody achieves total and complete JOY a hundred percent of the time. However, we can embrace specific moments, fragments of time, pieces of each day, that we can infuse with feel-good sensations, thoughts and emotions. Yes, we can choose happiness!
Awakening to the knowing that we can consciously choose our thoughts was a supreme epiphany for me. It was quite a journey from the challenge, worry, and disharmony that was the backstory of much of my early childhood — to current times in my path as a Reiki Master Teacher. I now understand about the significance of creating my own reality, recognizing the power we have to select and focus on thoughts that can inspire and guide us.
Some of the realization is that we can tune in to our own inner peace, despite what is happening in our outer world. This way of thinking helped sustain me and allowed me to remain centered and calm through the turbulence of the pandemic, as well as during the shifting times (and sometimes challenging times) in our current world.
I am passionate about helping people come to similar awakenings of consciousness — helping them find those moments of optimism, gratitude, harmony, serenity — and assisting them in keeping their minds and thoughts “in the light of JOY.”
These Passages have been designed (and infused with Reiki energy) to help ignite and/or maintain an upbeat, positive attitude within you. Each is complete with an affirmation, and most have more than one. Some passages are short, and others quite lengthy.
Read each Passage and say the affirmation(s) — preferably out loud because it is powerful to do so. I trust that this will help bring a creative wave of optimism into your reality. My suggestion is to read and “process” one passage per day, or perhaps two. However, do whatever feels right for you personally. Remember, the goal is JOY!
It is my intention for you to sincerely delight in these Passages and to feel the encouragement they are meant to bring to you. When you finish this book, go back to the beginning and start all over if you feel so guided.
Read on, and permit yourself to be gently, JOYfully uplifted — from my heart to yours...
Passage 1
Be in the energy of creating the best you!
Look forward to each day as a new moment and a new opportunity — what will you envision?
Will you be in the mindset of creating a more radiant, fulfilled version of yourself — your best and brightest “future self”?
With the dawning of each new day, you can begin anew, shed past worries and concerns. With the rising of each sun, you can hit the “reboot” button, to use a modern analogy. With each sunrise, there are new windows to open, and new doors to access.
Imagine powerful, limitless fields of opportunity... waves of infinite and JOYful possibilities flowing out in front of you… right at your fingertips… an uplifting expansiveness of potential!
So how does one seize the moment and welcome in new opportunities?
• Look ahead not back — what is done is done and cannot be changed. You can only focus on the now, so breathe in the beauty of the present moment. Yet of course, set goals and dreams for the future as well.
• Know that you have the freedom of choice — that glorious ability called free will.
• Understand that you are powerful and can create your custom life experience.
• Be in the habit of clearly visualizing images and scenarios of what you wish to bring into your reality.
• Believe in your heart of hearts that you can do it. Take inspired actions, one step at a time. Each successful journey begins with just one little baby step along the road.
• Look toward role models, inspirational teachers, anyone who makes your spirit dance and feel JOYful.
• Tap into your powerful inner guidance. Really pay attention to your “gut feelings.” In your heart you know what feels right for you, so listen to that inner voice.
• Seek out those in your immediate environment who are supportive — and release the “naysayers” who are resistant, difficult or oppositional.
• Take responsibility for your actions. Let go of any remnants of a “victim” mentality. We all have things happening to us and around us. Do not let these things define you. Eliminate the vocabulary of statements such as “He makes me furious; she makes me angry, etc.”
• Be flexible when challenges arise. Bend like the ancient, strong tree that endures and survives the storm. Emotionally stand tall, shine your brilliant inner light and know you will endure, persevere and come out with greater illumination, understanding and wisdom.
• Let your life resonate with love — for this is the emotion that gives meaning to our lives and helps us align with our true soul path. Love is the gift we share with family, friends and even those four-legged creatures who cross our paths and become our companions.
• Be of service to others. What we give out in terms of assistance and compassion is mirrored back to us. Fin
