#3

We all somehow exist here on Earth at this moment. We measure and plot our progress of existence in the thing we call time, which has a past, present, and future. When that existence ceases to progress, it ends.

#5

Money is a medium of exchange that was born from trade and has worked well for several thousand years. It allows trade to become more fluid and efficient. It helps us get in and out of the market with the goods we want because the medium of exchange creates a flow among people.

#6

Time, energy, and money are the three greatest sources of stress, lack, and confusion in our society. They are intimately linked in a fluid exchange that’s become a central influence on our lives.

#7

Focus is a magical superpower that is almost missing in today’s world. It refers to clear vision and implies an activity or action that brings it about. When something is important, we often assume focus will naturally happen or be innately there.

Insights from Chapter 2

#1

The first step in mastering time is to understand where all your time is going. What plants are you currently watering with your time, energy, and money. If your life were a garden, what areas would look good and what others would be neglected.

#2

We’re going to fix the root of a spiritual malady that has plagued us for millennia: the fact that we’re here to back up our words with action and integrity.

#3

The first step in fixing a problem is identifying it. You must be brutally honest with yourself about how well you’re doing in each area of the Life Garden. There will never be perfect balance in all areas of your Garden, and that’s normal.

#4

There are five broad categories in your Life Garden: Work, Family, Friends, Health, and Life Style. These categories should account for your entire life. You can't allocate a budget to water a handful of areas in your life and then find out you've got another category that's draining time, energy, and money.

#5

Good health is not an option, but a necessity if you want to live a rich and meaningful life. Energy is the gas your body needs to run. You can’t plan a road trip with an empty tank, a busted transmission, and bald tires.

#6

Your diet is a critical component of your health.
