FOREWORD
Have you ever felt this way?
It is not easy to succeed in life. You are always faced with difficult choices. You want to be victorious in life yet you just do not know how to. You would like to graduate with a college degree someday. You would like to take up a particular course of study. You’ve been wanting to quit drinking. You’ve had some other addictions that you would want to overcome. You are seeking for advice from friends but the very knowledge that they have, which could help you to succeed may not be sufficient. You also find it easier to “go with the flow”. Why would you want to sacrifice the excitement? Partying is so much fun. Working hard to achieve success is boring. You have been trying to do well in school, you have been trying get better grades, but it is just not cool. It is not you. The environment which you were born in just do not facilitate any form of big successes. You are surrounded by many friends but you feel alone. You’ve been wanting to change for the better but you just do not know how to. Year after year, you have been making new year resolutions but they are never fulfilled.

You might be a very young person, a teenager, a working adult, a professional, someone who has been trying to overcome some bad habits, someone who is facing a lot of challenges in life or even someone who has had no luck with great successes.
Whatever your background may be, this book is designed to move anyone towards their goals in incremental steps. It is not easy to be a brand new person overnight. It is not easy to achieve great success within a day but with a step by step planned approach, it is possible to move closer towards and to eventually achieve your goals over a period of time.
Some people may take a much longer time to achieve what they want while some will take a shorter time. It does not matter, we are not born under ideal circumstances. Unlike a race in a sports event, we have v£) unequal starts. Some may say that life is a marathon. I would prefer to describe it an extended decathlon. You will be pushed beyond your comfort zone. There would be times when you would experience discomfort. You are not just competing against the others. You are also competing against yourself. In a decathlon, a participant is expected to take part in various events which requires different skills, strengths and strategies. Life events themselves are similar in nature. You will be thrown into many new situations on numerous occasions. Are your goals within your reach? The answer is YES!!!
Everything was once impossible before it became possible!
I wrote this book based on my experience as an educator. I joined the teaching industry because I was passionate about creating a difference in the lives of the young, and this came about after I had participated in voluntary work with underprivileged youths. In this book, I will be sharing the strategies of success that I have learnt from the youths who were once under my care. Most of the youths that were once under my care came from middle to lower income urban families. Although they have learnt a great deal from me, I must humbly admit that what I had learnt from them is equal if not more than what they had learnt from me.
Based on my observation, people usually succeed through a multi-pronged approach.
Dreaming about your goals and working hard towards them are not enough, you need a detailed plan, strategy, time for reflection, re- strategising, time-off, learning and re-learning. This string of processes may even need to be repeated. Most importantly, you need the determination and discipline to follow through.
As the saying goes: “Million dollar ideas are a dime a dozen. The determination to see the idea through is what’s priceless” (Robert Dieffenbach). Many people desire to succeed. But not all of them have the drive, determination, patience, strategy and perseverance and know how to do so.
Whether you are walking, running or flying, this book provides simple steps and act as a guide to ensure that you would eventually reach your goal.
