Description

A glorious spiritual awakening is on the horizon, sparked by the combustible mix of worship and prayer. Dick Eastman calls this combination "intercessory worship," and in this one-of-a-kind guidebook, he explains how worship-saturated prayer rises like a fragrance before God's throne to declare His glory and reign over all circumstances, relationships and governments. He shows readers how to engage in life-transforming intercessory worship. He also reveals why intercessory worship is the greatest last-days prayer movement in history and invites believers to join the worldwide Body of Christ in fanning the flames of revival through biblical worship and scriptural prayer. The world will be transformed as the presence and power of the Spirit pour forth from the heart of God.

PRAISE FOR
INTERCESSORY WORSHIP
Prayer and worship are our greatest works as believers, and Dick Eastman has powerfully related them to the mission of the Church. Read this exciting book and see how the Great Commission is being fulfilled in our lifetime.
D R . N EIL T. A NDERSON Founder, Freedom in Christ, Franklin, Tennessee
Dick Eastman shows us how to ignite God’s passion in our lives and on behalf of the world. We always thought that worship and prayer were important. Dick Eastman tells us why, and he goes on to show us how to weave the two together to lead the Church toward the great endtime harvest.
M IKE B ICKLE Director, International House of Prayer, Kansas City, Missouri
Worship is a subject that is difficult, sometimes painful, for many believers today. Dick Eastman, a beloved and godly brother, shows us how worship is not only infinitely pleasing to God and vital to our spiritual growth but is absolutely necessary to bring the nations to a saving knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
D R . B ILL B RIGHT (1921–2003) Founder, Campus Crusade for Christ
The emergence of biblically focused worship is a fountainhead where the life within the Church and within the individual moves from flow to overflow. As we exalt Jesus Christ, Dick challenges us to call on God’s authority to eliminate the adversary’s position as nations are brought to their knees in a feast of joy. The culmination of the Great Commission will be ushered in on the foundation of anticipatory, prayerful worship that brings us to the destiny God intended for each of His people.
T OM P HILLIPS Vice President of Crusades, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association
This work is not only a thorough, insightful explanation of a fascinating subject but also a description of a radical biblical practice being reborn in our day—something long prophesied but never before attained.
J OHN D AWSON Founder, International Reconciliation Coalition International President Emeritus, Youth with a Mission
The best leaders are God’s worshiping servants. Dick Eastman has spent decades humbly leading us deeper into worship and prayer. In a whirlwind worldwide tour, Dick invites us to join with others who are experiencing God and to put some “fight” into our intercession.
F RANCIS F RANGIPANE Founder, River of Life Ministries, Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Dick Eastman’s gift of an intercessor’s passion for—and power in—partnership with God is multiplied over and over to us all by means of the understandable, practical, “believe-I-can-do-this” guidance. Under Jesus’ touch, he teaches us to pray.
J ACK W. H AYFORD Chancellor, The King’s Seminary, Van Nuys, California
Dick Eastman’s writing style is honest and enjoyable and will bring you into a deeper relationship with the Lord. The linking of worship and evangelism is one of the major keys to releasing a massive end-time harvest into the nations.
C INDY J ACOBS Co-founder, Generals International, Ovilla, Texas
This book takes us into the heart of what it means to war and to worship. Dick Eastman explains how the specific worship pathways King David followed are the same pathways that are central to God’s plan to fulfill the Great Commission. This is an exciting time to be alive! Church, let’s cooperate with God’s plan—in the way we worship and in the way we intercede—to bring people to Himself from every tribe, tongue and nation.

My journey began with a strong inner urging to set aside 40 days for fasting and prayer. (Don’t be alarmed—this is not a book about fasting and prayer. I didn’t mean to scare you! That’s just where my story happens to begin.) It was late February 2000. This was the second prolonged fasting experience in my life. Inspired by a dear friend and mentor, the late Dr. Bill Bright of Campus Crusade for Christ, I fasted for 40 days in the fall of 1996. That was a truly life changing experience; it was also rather grueling. I have often jokingly said that I promised God on the tenth or eleventh day of that first fast that if He would just keep me alive for all 40 days, “I will never do this again as long as I live!” But with the dawning of a new decade and century (and, indeed, a new millennium), I strongly sensed that God was leading me into a second 40-day season of this challenging discipline.
I soon learned this fast would be significantly different from the first. In fact, it would open my understanding to extraordinary vistas of the transformational power of what I have come to know as “intercessory worship” (an expression I will carefully define later).
My introduction to intercessory worship began on the very first day of that second prolonged fast. At the outset, I was uncertain as to any specific focus for this fast. But the ministry I was leading at the time (and still direct), Every Home for Christ, was about to begin a large building project called The Jericho Center, and I felt we needed much more focused prayer to see this project properly launched. I determined that my fast would begin on March 8 (Ash Wednesday) and continue 40 days until April 16 (Palm Sunday).
On the first day of the fast, at noon, I joined with hundreds of other worshipers at the World Prayer Center in Colorado Springs. At the time, they conducted a noon-hour of open worship for the entire communit
