Wisconsin needs to work for clean energy production and energy efficiency solutions to address global warming in our State. Wisconsin needs to take aggressive measures, starting immediately, to reduct global warming pollution by 80%. I believe our recent weather disasters around the world, including the severe weather and flooding in Wisconsin, can be attributed to climate change caused by the excessive use of fossil fuels. We can't afford to wait any longer to act on this serious problem that has far reaching impacts on our economy, ecology, and public health. Thank you. Janet Weyker Racine, WI From:Sent:Sunday, June 15, 2008 12:25 PM To:DNR GLOBALWARM TF COMMENTS Subject:request for stronger measures
Dear Sirs & Mesdames: In reference to your recently released Strawman proposal , I felt that the proposals as stated were not strong enough to address the imminence of the threats of global warming. If the past winter and the weird intensity of storms and floods in the past few weeks in our state alone, are not enough to convince you that things are seriously getting out of balance in nature, perhaps you need to compare the economic costs of these "oddities" with the costs to businesses for adapting to methods to control global warming pollution. Please be assured that global warming is just that ...global.So, the argument that businesses will relocate to other states if we require too much of them is rather a moot point.Wisconsin, as it has in the past on so many other issues, should take the lead in becoming a "clean and green" leader. Manyof our state businesses are invested in exactly that concept and are looked to by others hoping to achieve green results. It's a moneymaking concept! And, it's going to need to
Page 3 of 7
be global since the problem is global. Yes, it will cost companies some part of their profit to reduce their global warming emissions, but it must be understood that in the long run they will still be in business, they will still have live customers and workers to use and produce their products, and they may even be hailed as being in the forefront of a movement to save the planet as a livable, workable place for our future generations. There's a future, and an economic benefit to this. Some points on which I feel your report did not deal strongly enough:  Weneed to base the requirements on global warming reduction on current sound science. It's coming  muchfaster than your current proposal can deal with.  Itsounds autocratic, but mandatory action needs to be required for pollution reduction now.  Weneed to have Wisconsinbased clean energy solutions for our state as much as possible. I have always been fond of the "super prize" concept, feeling that it generates excitement and competition among the best minds. So, on this last point, I would suggest issuing a challenge to the University of Wisconsin statewide.Let's offer an "Energy Prize" forformulating the best solution for our state to reduce global warming emissions and/or clean energy efficiency solutions.Win/win situation here...the University gets some needed cash, the state wins on efficient ways to combat global warming pollution, and the businesses and people of Wisconsin (and the world) win. Thank you for considering these possibilities. Sincerely, Nancy A. Dear Sirs, It would seem to me that one of the easiest things the state could do would be to see that all government buildings be equipped with solar collectors or wind generators, certainly new buildings should be "greened" as much as possible.Especially technological schools!!!We should be setting up and maintaining alternative energy resources on every rooftop and offering coursework in setting up and maintaining those facilities! In our area, the schools sit in the middle of vast parking lots with flattopped roofs which could all be collecting energy to power

the school, lights and the community beyond. We not only need the technology we need people to maintain it and what better use of our Tech Schools? From:bruce krawisz Sent:Sunday, June 15, 2008 1:47 PM To:DNR GLOBALWARM TF COMMENTS Subject:Wisconsin global warming plan
Dear sir or madam: I am a Wisconsin citizen from Marshfield. I think the Wisconsin global warming planning should make a greater effort to boose local clean energy production in Wisconsin using wind energy. I also think a greater effort can be made to increase Wisconsin energy conservation. In the near future, conservation of energy is probably our best way to reduce local release of global warming gases. I am writing to you as a member of Clean Wisconsin to urge you to support a low carbon fuel standard. I currently am the owner of a Toyota Hybrid car. I feel that a low carbon fuel standard will encourage the continued research and development of more hybrids as well as other types of cars to decrease emissions that effect global warming. It is one of the only ways to address the disproportionately high greenhouse emissions of tars and oil. The lower standard will ensure the development of the best biofuels from a global warming standpoint and the quality of our water. We have waited too long to take action and now is the opportunity to move forward with the protection of our world. I may not see all of the benefits of these actions in my lifetime but it is critical for those who will be living into the future.Thank you for addressing these issues.Mary Ann DykesFrom:Jim Jakusz Sent:Sunday, June 15, 2008 6:58 PM To:DNR GLOBALWARM TF COMMENTS Subject:Stronger GLobal Warming Compact
