What is the Israel/Palestine StoryBox Project? AnoffshootoftheOSUMCCStoryBoxProject,thisinitiativeseekstocollectpersonalstoriesofstudentsand ColumbusresidentswhoarepersonallyaffectedbytheArab‐Israeliconflict.Thesestorieswillformthebasisofa collaborativetheatreperformancedevelopedbyamixedJewishandPalestinianensemble. What is the goal of this project? Theprojectseekstopromotenon‐violentcommunicationandinterculturalrespectamongthoseaffectedbythe Arab‐Israeliconflict.Storytellingprovidesawindowintotheworldofthe“other”andcanserveasapowerfultool forinterpersonalandsocietalbridge‐building.Throughthisproject,wehopetobuildrelationshipsand collaborativealliancesbetweenPalestiniansandJewsoncampusandinthewidercommunity,andprovidea catalystforotherinitiativesthatencouragesupportforpeacefulcoexistence. How can I get involved? 1.BeaStoryAmbassador.ArrangeaplacetohostaStoryBox.ThiscanbeanyorganizationwhereJewishand/or Palestinianstudentsandresidentsgather.AStoryAmbassadorarrangesatleasttwoeventstocelebratethe storiesintheboxandtohelpcreatemorestoriesforthebox. 2.SubmitanarrativetoaStoryBox.Thiscanbeastoryinanyform(graphic,written,CD,mp3…).Sincethe StoryBoxisacommunalbox,weaskthatyougivepermissionforotherstoshareyournarrative.Ifyouwouldlike yourstorytobeexploredand/orincludedinourtheatreperformance,youmay(butarenotrequiredto)signa separatepermissionform.Besuretoincludeyourcontactinformationwithyourwork. 3.Joinourtheatreensemble.Noactingexperienceisrequired.Ledbycross‐communityfacilitators,thegroupwill usetheatreexercisestoexplorepersonalnarrativesanddeviseacollaborativeperformance.
