Aldi Own Brand Cleans up With Competition
PR Newswire LONDON, August 29, 2012
LONDON,August 29, 2012/PRNewswire/ --Magnum washing up liquid bursts Fairy's bubble for second year in a row - cleaning better than market leader and costing less than half the price Aldi's own brand washing up liquid can now claim to top family favourite Fairy -for the second year in a row Aldi's washing up liquid has topped the Which? test and beaten the UK's best seller. Yet Aldi's version is a fraction of the cost at 59p (500ml) compared to Fairy's £1.25 (433ml). Up until last year, Fairy had topped every washing up liquid test since the magazine first started testing it in 1965, but it seems its bubble has well and truly burst. The Which? test also revealed that a 59p bottle of Aldi's washing-up liquid can wash 11,750 plates while 59p's worth of Fairy Original washed just 4,292 plates. Tony Baines, Managing Director of Buying, Aldi Stores UK, said: "Last year we were delighted to come first in the Which? test, but to do so two years in a row is fantastic news. This win confirms that shoppers can trust in Aldi's cleaning power." At just 69p for 500ml, Aldi's Magnum Premium Eucalyptus Antibacterial scored a respectable 79% in the Which? tests and was also awarded a Best Buy. Already this year, Aldi has racked up 133 awards for the quality and value of its products. In addition to this, Which? has awarded four of Aldi's products as 'Best Buys' in 2012 and the Good Housekeeping Institute has accredited 13 products. In 2011, Aldi came second place in the Which?
